Where do you tat?

I have a question. Do you all tat in public places?

I tat when I'm at the doctor's office, when I am waiting for my order in a restaurant and also tat when I am in the car (not when I'm driving, though. I haven't mastered that yet!). I don't make a big show about it, just quietly tat and most of the time, people want to know what I am doing. Recently, I had an older man in a doctor's office (who bragged that he was a Master Plumber) make a comment about how he couldn't stand to do something that is so repetitive and boring. I told him that I look at the big picture when it is finished and enjoy the process of completing it. I guess he had a hard problem understanding that. (Besides, I'll bet as a plumber, he does many repetitive things!) I also told him that (believe it or not) I do make money with my tatting. He couldn't quite understand that, either. Oh well, I'm glad I don't get comments like his very often. Most people have never heard of tatting and are amazed at the delicate lacey look. I love to create pretty things and enjoy it when someone else enjoys it, too.

My Little Booth at Artcrafters

Well, I am starting to sell some of my items at Artcrafters in Dayton and it is exciting. I have sold some in the past two months, but not much. And, anyway, I know from being in business that the first few months of the year are normally slow, and with this economy, it has been slower than usual. So, at least I made my rent. But now, I am making more than my rent and it is only the middle of the month! I sold the heart that I have pictured here, so guess what I'm going to do? You guessed it--make more hearts! I have tons of lace and ribbon and everything else, so I can make lots of them! Don't even have to make a trip to the craft store--which really makes me feel good. If you would like to know how to make these hearts, I can send you to the blog where I saw them. Just let me know.

Little Tatted Trinket Boxes

I am creating new items for my booth in Dayton. These little boxes have been fun to make and, hopefully, they will sell. I love glitter and have also used it on my boxes. I think the boxes can hold little gifts like a string of pearls, handcrafted earrings or some other special little gift. It's just another way I can give myself a reason to continue tatting. I guess I could tatt larger pieces, but I am one to finish something very quickly and don't like long, drawn-out projects. For instance, I have started but never finished a quilt. There are too many other paths in life that I am on and I want to do it all!

Victorian Bathsalts

I found something else to add my tatting to--those pretty vintage bottles. I filled the bottle with rose scented bathsalts and then decorated the outside with my tatting. It was fun to do and I will probably make more. I have a whole set of essential oils and bath salts, so why not?
